A new entry in the Guinness Book of Records appeared in an unusual category – promotional products. A German company manufacturing writing instruments achieved a new record by presenting the longest pencil in the world.
The previous record, a length of 225.2 metres (approximately 1,325 times the size of a standard pencil), was surpassed on 5 August 2015. The German company STAEDTLER Mars GmbH & Co. KG, based in Nuremberg, Germany, produced the longest pencil in the world — 459.97 m (1,509 ft 1.05 in).
This record was achieved using a commercially available coloured pencil, thanks to a special manufacturing process and an innovative material known as WOPEX.
